We want to thank our parents, students, teachers and other community supporters who helped us receive the Gold medal for People's Choice Best in DFW. 

NASET

(National Association of Special Education Teachers)

School of Excellence for

2022-2023

In the 2021-2022 school year students from Bridge Builder Academy participated in the NASA Hunch program.  Lead by Mr. Michael Hayes (BBA Teacher of the Year 21-22) students designed a prototype moon shoe “Lunar Loafers”.  The BBA NASA Hunch team was named as a National Winner for Design and Protype for their "Lunar Loafers".  Additionally, they were selected to participate in the US Patent and Trademark Office “Innovation Day” event in April 2022 at the Johnson Space Center.  At this event they were awarded 3rd place by the USPTO.

During the 2022-2023 school year Bridge Builder Academy had two teams participate in the NASA Hunch program.  Again lead by Mr. Michael Hayes (Executive Director of NASA-VIPS.org), one team designed a self contained habitat that functions without connection to any other power source and was named a National Finalist for their project.  The other team designed a rover work table to be used during exploritory missions and experiments and was named a National Semi-Finalist for their project.  For the second year in a row the teams were invited to particapate in the USPTO Innovation Day event in April, 2023.

NASA Hunch

BBA has recently been selected by the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) to be a 2022-2023 School of Excellence!

As the only school in Richardson and Plano, one of four in the DFW area, one of seven in the state of Texas, and one of 123 in the entire United States we are honored to receive this recognition.

NASET annually bestows upon qualified licensed private special education schools throughout the United States the distinction of being selected as a NASET School of Excellence. Selection as a NASET School of Excellence is the highest honor a private special education school can achieve through our professional association.

The recognition is bestowed on private special education schools that meet 13 rigorous professional eligibility critera and have demonstrated truely exceptional dedication, commitment, and achievement in the field of special education.

Stock Market Game.jpg

Students at Bridge Builder Academy get opportunities to learn real world skills through unique learning events.  Several of our students participated in the Stock Market Game during the 2021-2022 school year through their math class.  At the end of the spring semester, we had two students in the top 100 out of 759 teams in the DFW area and all of our students were in the top half. 

Continuing Advisory Committee for Special Education

In 2019 Teresa A. Bronsky, Head of School, was named as a Member of the Continuing Advisory Committee for Special Education.  With this appointment she was able to help formulate the direction that Special Education would take in the state of Texas for the foreseeable future.

Teaching Superstar

In 2020 our Teacher of the Year at Bridge Builder Academy, Ms. Sarah Roye, was not only recognized by her fellow co-workers and parents of students she taught; she also received the honor of being recognized by the State of Texas Office of the Governor Greg Abbott with a Teaching Superstar award.  Ms. Saba Ansari was our teacher of the year runner up and she also received the recognition from the Office of Governor Greg Abbott.
